Our Lady of the Rosary’s Church

The church of Our Lady of the Rosary, patron saint of the Mountain Village of Valezim, is located at the eastern end of the village, close to the Demestres’ stream. The origin of the temple must go back to the Middle Ages, having, over the centuries, been the subject of several works of requalification, as evidenced by the engravings of the dates «1630» and «1888» present in the door frames of the main façade. The granite building has an elongated plan of three naves, separated from each other by two sets of four arches based on cylindrical columns with capital. Adjoining the façade, on the left, with two floors and a gable finish, a bell tower rises with two bells. In the surroundings of the church, there are several funerary tombstones, which used to belong to the old cemetery.
