Located on the southern edge of a plateau area, at an altitude of about 1200 meters, it offers a breathtaking panorama over the Zêzere River valley and the surrounding slopes. In this scenery you can easily recognize some of the most prominent elevations of Serra da Estrela with the Cântaros and Torre on the upper plateau and the Curral do Vento on the southern edge of Serra de Baixo.
In the surrounding landscape there are dense areas of forest dominated by deciduous trees, which in autumn, when their leaves turn yellow, lend the landscape a particular charm. On the northern slopes, over the Zêzere River and the Leandres stream, the Municipality Souto, one of the most extensive and best-preserved chestnut woods in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, is worth mentioning. The slopes also have abundant areas of gravel, whose origin is related to the fragmentation of the corneas outcrops by the action of ice.
Around the chapel, there is a remarkable group of centuries-old oak trees. Belonging to the Quercus pyrenaica species, the trees reach a maximum height of between 9 and 16 meters and are estimated to be around 400 years old.
