Prados Micro-reserve

Located on the northern limit of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, in an east oriented side, where the Carvalhal Stream flows, at an altitude between 1100 and 1150 meters, the National Association of Nature Conservation –QUERCUS – has designated a private area as a natural micro reserve. With an area around one hectare, this reserve has as main goal the conservation of an area of meadows, which represent in the Serra da Estrela mountain range, the main habitat of the wild daffodil, a rare species in Portugal. The flowering period of the wild daffodil, as the majority of the most relevant herbaceous species occurs from April to June, being this period the best to visit the place.
