The human occupation of this region dates back more than five thousand years, as evidenced by several engraved rock art, dating from the Neolithic to the end of the Middle Ages, discovered in shale outcrops, along the valley of the Alvoco stream and its tributaries. In Vide, the main nucleus of rock engravings is found at the sites of Entre-Águas and Ferraduras, including representations of a geometric-symbolic character and schematic anthropomorphic figures, which must correspond to the Bronze Age. For more information about the engravings, it is recommended to visit the Interpretation Center of Rock Art of Vide (Centro Interpretativo de Arte Rupestre de Vide), open to the public in the building of the primary school by prior appointment.
