Medieval Sidewalks

Between the bridge over the Valezim stream (Ribeira de Valezim) and the chapel of St. Domingos and on the slope of the Castro’s hill, towards the mountain village of Lapa dos Dinheiros, in the places of Darruas and Romana, there are several relatively well-preserved sections of an old sidewalk. This footpath could be medieval and should follow the route of an older one from the Roman period, which crossed the western slope of the Serra da Estrela, always along the mid-slope.
