Caldeirão Waterfall

Located on the Caldeirão stream, this waterfall is characterized by a 50-metre steep slope of gorges, cascades, and wells, in a course of about 100 metres of said stream. The rock formations are excavated by the erosive action of the water, in a vertical fall, in the area of contact between the shale and the granite, and the largest of these formations is called the “Cascade of Caldeirão”. Its waters are thrown into a large waterhole, the “Caldeirão”, about 19 metres deep and about 20 metres wide. To reach this stunning waterfall, you can take the trail that starts next to the medieval bridge of Mizarela.
