Chapel of São Pedro

The Chapel of São Pedro, located in the centre of the village, in the oldest nucleus of Alvoco, must have its origins in a pre-existing Romanesque building, which would have been deeply adulterated at the end of the 19th century. It is a rectangular temple, with an arched portal bounded by a granite lintel on the façade, where the keys of St. Peter are carved, topped by a quadrilobed oculus.

Inside, there is an antique gilt carved altarpiece that housed a polychrome image of St. Peter, carved in limestone from the Ançã area, currently in display at the Chapel of Santo António. Accompanying this image were three oil paintings on wooden panels, dedicated to São Pedro, São Paulo, and the Holy Spirit, respectively.
