Festa da Transumância e dos Pastores - Bênção dos Rebanhos
The popular festivity of São João Batista, also known as São João das Ovelhas, is a sheperds festivity, in which the flocks are brought in a quick running mode, followed by the sheperds, parading on at the time arround the chapel of São João, in the village of Folgosa da Madalena, three laps one way, three more to the other. The flocks always cheered by the people, have the males decorated with rattles, mantaing many of the sheperds the tradition of decorating them with typical ornaments, "pêras" and "cabeçadas".

Festa da Transumância e dos Pastores - Subida dos Rebanhos à serra
Every year, on the weeks after the São João Batista popular festivities, in the village of Folgosa da Madalena on the plain lands of Seia county, the sheperds climb up the mountain to the summer pastures, being this the highest point of the sheperds activity in serra da Estrela. This year, the sheperds that will climb the mountain, renew the invitation so that tourists and visitors can once more discover the one of the most symbolic activities of sheperds, the transhumance, an experience that translates the essence of a hard and simple life, filled however with magic and enchantment.
